Garner High School Football - 2009 Season

Every Friday night this season and last you could find me and Jason on the sidelines of the GMHS football games. This season, toting our cameras everywhere we go extended to these very sidelines. Here are a few of my favorites from my camera to your screen. Go Trojans!

The Slick

If I said I was biased to this band I wouldn't be lying. It is full of some very talented and very funny guys. Two of whom I have been lucky enough to grow up alongside. Together they provide awesome punk rock music with creative and original melodies and lyrics. I was lucky enough to spend the day with them last month and shoot some promotional pictures for their website. It was just like any other day with them, cutting up and enjoying life. Except this time I laughed from behind the camera lens and tried to capture the humor and the hard work that they put into every fiber of the band. Here are a select few pictures. This day is a true testament that if you have great enough subjects you just can't take a bad picture.

Triangle Jazz Quartet

Well, this has been a wild two weeks! I've stayed consistently busy, successfully avoiding all necessary odd jobs like, laundry, having food in the house, and replacing my bald tires before I careen into a ditch in the rain. A ha! But I have tackled two of the three and am on my way to an orderly life once again. That is, before more chaos ensues.

During this time off (ha ha) from my blog. I had two wonderful photo shoots with bands I think you will like. The first of which was a couple weekends ago in downtown Raleigh. A group called the Triangle Jazz Quartet! The guys were great; they kept us laughing through the whole shoot. Which is stupendous because it combines my two great loves! Laughing and taking pictures! Some may say I do both too often but I beg to differ. The only time to be serious is never...unless your cat gets hit by a car that day or you get stranded at an amusement park hours from home. Not speaking from experience...however, if those things happened it could also be funny days later when you realize the ridiculousness of reactions or scenarios. Anyway, far from the point! It was a great time in the heat of the summer listening to the awesomely smooth jazz in the City Market. Book them for your next event!

Here's the snippets...

See? They're amazing, I know. If only you could hear the music with the pictures. Well, here's their website so you can get some musical accompaniment: Triangle Jazz Quartet

The second band is a punk rock band called The Slick. There are many pictures to come! Get excited!

P.S. Since people have been asking. I do have pricing, but since the website is not active yet you will have to contact me for further info! Email me at: ThepoLkaKid@gmail.com

Coy & Kaylee!

Here is to impromptu photo shoots with two of the most adorable kids on this earth rock. A few weeks ago I took some candid shots of Coy and Kaylee during a family trip to the beach. We go to Carolina Beach often and each time we try to sneak in our favorite foods no matter what time frame our stay encompasses. If you knew my family you would know that about 80% of our trips or vacations (or life, probably) revolve around food and getting ready to go get food. Where to eat and what to eat. So, one of our signature stops is always Squigly's for ice cream. Which they have in abundance offering over '4,050 flavors'! Below you will see how Kaylee's hair is an example of another kind of squigly. Maybe we should stop eating there so often.

Coming soon...Zack and Jemissa's wedding...

Amanda & Joe! - Got Married, Don't Ya Know? - May 23rd, 2009

It was an awesome weekend in Westpoint, NY. What a beautiful place! This was where Amanda and Joe met years ago while both of their families were stationed there. Amanda is one of four sisters in her family and I am so lucky to call them friends. They are a spirited bunch and there was definitely not a lack of good times and funky dance moves!
Here are the photos from their gorgeous reception. The reception hall was overlooking the Hudson!

My favorite part of the reception was the Father/Daughter dance. It started out slow and sweet like this . . . .

. . . and then the real moves came out as "Gettin' Jiggy With It" came blasting out of the speakers. It was truly amazing!

What a wonderful evening! I love you girls! Congratulations to Amanda and Joe!
